Rostra Diocletiani
Orators' platform on the eastern end of the Forum plaza.
Reconstructed state: Building as first dedicated on site

Alternate names: Rostra of Diocletian

Before the Temple of the Divine Julius Caesar was a speakers' platform which was 12 meters x 30 meters in size. It was excavated in 1874 and erroneously considered the remains of a medieval tower and demolished. In fact, it represented the rebuilding of the rostra before the Temple of Julius Caesar which was damaged in the fire of 283 AD.
