Reconstructed state: Building as first dedicated on site

Conflicting Evidence

The only remaining archaeological evidence for the monument is a large round footing in the Augustan Rostra thought to be in the correct position and of the correct size. Nearby at the foot of the Temple of Saturn there is a fragment of a large curved base labeled "Milliarium" which is seems more likely to be a fragment of the Umbilicus.

 (Level of certainty: medium)

Determining Building Footprint

The monument was sized based on the footing and decorated with the "Milliarium" piece.
