M. Tullius Cicero

Quocirca etiam ad posteritatis memoriam pertinere arbitror extare, quod fuerit de hoc bello iudicium senatus; erit enim statua ipsa testis bellum tam grave fuisse, ut legati interitus honoris memoriam consecutus sit.

Wherefore I think it also concerns the enlightenment of posterity that it should be clearly manifested what was the judgment of the Senate on this war; for the statue will itself be a witness that the war was so serious that the death of an envoy won a memorial of honour.
