De Verborum Significatu

Paulus Diaconus

Iugarius vicus dictus Romae, quia ibi fuerat ara Iunonis Iugae, quam putabant matrimonia iungere.

The road is called Iugarius at Rome, because there had been an altar of Juno Juga (the Joiner), which they used to think joined (people) in marriage.
