Valerius Maximus

Insequenti nocte aedis Vestae arsit. Quo incendio Metellus inter ipsos ignis raptum Palladium incolume servavit.

The following night the temple of Vesta caught fire. In the conflagration Metellus seized the Palladium in the midst of the flames and saved it intact.
